<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion vector detecting method capable of suppressing detection error to be low, when placing limit on the number of vectors among a plurality of motion vector objects and reducing the circuit scale of motion vector detection in a second stage, while suppressing deterioration in image quality. <P>SOLUTION: Vector detection means 10 to 14 detect five kinds of motion vectors from a macro block of a received current frame. In order to select a field vector comprising an optimum top field macro block and an optimum bottom field macro block from 4 kinds of field vectors, prescribed weight coefficients are multiplied by evaluation values of the vectors, and the results are compared. The weight coefficient generation is adaptively set, by using a prescribed function in response to a motion vector selection state of macro blocks in the vicinity of a current macro block. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
