摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus which avoids the upsizing of a driving motor and cost rise associated therewith by decreasing maximum rotational speed required for the driving motor at the time of setting the reduction of a copied image. SOLUTION: When the copying magnification of the image of an original is set to reduction, the scanning cycle in a subscanning direction of an imaging device is made large and the light quantity of a light emitting member is controlled to be small corresponding to the scanning cycle of the imaging device. A minimum light quantity value set as a value required to form an image by uniformly maintaining the light distribution characteristic of the light emitting member and a minimum light quantity magnification set value decided corresponding to the scanning cycle of the imaging device at the minimum light quantity set value are respectively set. When the copying magnification of the image of the original is set smaller than the minimum light quantity magnification set value, the light quantity of the light emitting member is set to the minimum light quantity set value and also the scanning cycle in the subscanning direction of the imaging device is fixed and the moving speed of an original exposure means is controlled to rise in accordance with the copying magnification.
