Lossless program-based image compression and decompression, e.g. of bitmap images, using buffers with command sequences and compression and decompression buffers

The data compression system handles .bmp (bitmap data) files which undergo a data compression process (BmpBuffersCompress). Compressed files are transmitted via buffers with command sequences (Buffers mit Commando- folgen. ) and then undergo a decompression process (BmpBuffersDeCompress) which outputs restored.bmp files. All successive two-dimensional regions of 4 pixels are compared with a single pixels for equality or similarity. The shortest commands, whose format is a byte operation code and operand, are used in the case of similarity.
