The mechanism has operating and fixing brake units (3, 4) with respective pressable brake pads (5-8), aligned on smaller and outer radius of a brake disc (1), respectively, where the brake units are hydraulically operated. Brake disc surfaces (12, 13) of respective brake units are provided for the brake pads, and are arranged on a larger radius of the brake disc. The brake surfaces are separated from each other through a recess (14).
