METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR AUTHENTICATING ACCESS POINT IN WIRELESS NETWORK

An authentication system comprises a wireless network and a certification authority installed on an upper network connected to the wireless network. When the certification system is started, the certification authority issues certification information which certifies that an access point in the wireless network is an authentic access point and certification information given to a wireless terminal wanting permission to make an access to the network. Before a session between the wireless terminal wanting an access to the upper network and the access point to be connected to the wireless terminal is set up, the wireless terminal can confirm the authenticity of the access point referring to the certification information, and the access point can confirm the authenticity of the wireless terminal referring to the same. A deceptive attacker is prevented from connecting a wireless terminal to a not-authentic false access point, thereby preventing internal information from being stolen.
