A stable aqueous antiplaque oral composition containing (a) an antibacterial ester compound having the formula (I) where R<1> is an alkyl chain of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and R<2> is an alkyl chain of 6 to 30 carbon atoms and X is an anion.(b) a stabilizing surfactant; and (c) a humectant. Methods of making the oral composition are also provided.
