PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous pigment ink which has a sufficiently large area factor and gives an image having a high OD even with a small amount of ink drops.

SOLUTION: In one embodiment, the aqueous ink comprises water, a plurality of water-soluble organic solvents of different kinds and a water-insoluble coloring material, where the plurality of water-soluble organic solvents comprises good solvents for the water-insoluble coloring material and poor solvents for the water-insoluble coloring material with the ratio A:B of the total amount A (mass%) of the good solvents in the ink to the total amount B (mass%) of the poor solvents in the ink of at least 10:5 and at most 10:30 and the water-soluble organic solvent having the largest Ka value of Ka values obtained by the Bristow method of the plurality of water-soluble organic solvents is one of the poor solvents.
