<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simply configured and inexpensive vacancy confirming system by using a radio tag. <P>SOLUTION: A radio tag T is mounted on each seat of a train, and a reader antenna 11 for communicating with a radio tag T is arranged at the ceiling part or floor part of the train. A vacancy display device 20 for displaying the seating chart of the train is connected to a detecting device 10 to which the reader antenna 11 is connected. A confirmation switch 3 of the radio tag T mounted on the seat is a load sensor and an optical sensor or the like. When a user takes a seat, the confirmation switch is turned on, and a signal reply function is validated, and the radio tag T sends a response signal. The detecting device 10 outputs the detection signal to the display device 20, and the detecting device 20 turns on the light of the seat mounted with the radio tag T whose confirmation switch is operated in the seating chart to display that the seat is occupied.
