<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic elevator, usable in a place where use of wheelchairs is expected as in an apartment house for the aged or a home for the aged, and an operation method for the automatic elevator. <P>SOLUTION: This automatic elevator is provided in an automatic travel wheelchair traveling system in which traveling of an automatic travel wheelchair and a guide passage for the automatic travel wheelchair to travel are controlled. Based on instructions from the automatic travel wheelchair or instructions from a host computer, it is moved to the floor where the automatic travel wheelchair gets in, and it carries the automatic travel wheelchair to move to a target floor. When the automatic travel wheelchair enters the room, the automatic travel wheelchair is detected to open a door, and the automatic travel wheelchair is guided to enter the room. After recognizing that the automatic travel wheelchair enters the room to stop at a prescribed position, the door is closed, and the automatic travel wheelchair is withdrawn from the room. When it arrives at the target floor, the door is opened, withdrawal of the automatic travel wheelchair is guided, and after recognizing withdrawal of the automatic travel wheelchair from the room, the door is closed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
