<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform proper inspection even displacement or enlargement/reduction occurs in each image at the printing time, in inspection of a print formed by printing a discrete image on a form where a fixed-form image is printed. <P>SOLUTION: An inspection image acquired by reading the print is projected in the horizontal and vertical directions, to thereby determine the projection waveform in each direction (S12). A geometric transformation parameter between the projection waveforms of both images is calculated by using Hough transform so that a characteristic peak of the projection waveform is adapted to a characteristic peak of the projection image in the same direction of the fixed-form image (S14). The fixed-form image is aligned to the inspection image by the parameter, and a differential waveform between the projection waveforms of both images is calculated (S20). A transformation parameter between both images is calculated so that a peak of the differential waveform is adapted to a peak of the projection waveform in the same direction of the discrete image (S22). The fixed-form image and the discrete image are transformed by each corresponding transformation parameter and then synthesized (S28), and a synthesized image acquired resultantly is collated with the inspection image (S30). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
