PHASE DIFFERENCE LAYER AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase difference layer capable of effectively suppressing the deterioration of display quality without producing a contrast pattern in a display image even when being arranged between a liquid crystal cell and a polarizing plate.

SOLUTION: The phase difference layer 10 is composed of a plurality of micro domains 12 having a molecular structure with cholesteric regularity. In the phase difference layer 10, helical pitch of the molecular structure is adjusted so that selective reflection wavelength of selective reflection light due to the molecular structure becomes smaller than the wavelength of incident light which is made incident on the phase difference layer 10.
