PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional centering device being complicated at an increased cost since a load width measuring device and a load positioning device are separately provided, wherein the cycle time is increased due to many centering processes. SOLUTION: The centering device has conveyors 1a, 1b for conveying a load 2, a stopper 4 standing by at a specified position on a conveying path of the load 2, detecting a load front end by abutting on the load and moving by the push of the load 2, a sensor 14 for detecting a load rear end by movement of the load, a range finder 10 for measuring a load movement distance in the time of detecting the load rear end of the sensor 14, and a control means for calculating the load width and a stopper centering position based on the measured movement distance.
