PURPOSE:To contrive a smaller head and higher recording speed, by connecting a cap formed of a ferromagnetic material to a rear end part of a wire, and driving the wire in a direction for striking a medium and the opposite direction through an electro-mechanical energy converting element, such as a piezoelectric element, and a magnetic force generating means. CONSTITUTION:In a recording unit, a wire 4 is driven in the direction of an arrow 6 for striking a recording meidum by a piezoelectric element 1, and is returned by driving it in the direction opposite to the arrow 6 by a repulsive force exerted on the wire 4 by a platen 14 and a magnetic force generated by a magnetic force generating means comprising a yoke 8, a permanent magnet 9 and a magnetic coil 10. A cap 12 formed of a ferromagnetic material is connected to a rear end part of the wire 4, and the weight thereof supplies inertial energy to the wire 4, thereby providing the wire 4 with a sufficient medium- striking force. The cap 12 also increases the magnetic force applied to the wire 4. A predetermined number of such recording units are arranged side by side to constitute a head. In this case, a fixed member 2, the magnetic force generating means and an aligning member 13 can be used in common for the recording units. |
