PURPOSE:To supplement electrolyte even when electrolyte in catalyst layer of oxidizing agent electrode is condensed, to improve adhesion with ion exchange membrane, to prevent deterioration in cell performance, ant to increase life by arranging an electrolyte layer containing electrolyte between an oxidizing agent electrode and the ion exchange membrane. CONSTITUTION:As a means to bring into closely contact an oxidizing agent electrode with an ion exchange membrane, an electrolyte layer is placed between them. In a liquid fuel cell, since the matrix placed between the oxidizing agent electrode and the ion exchange membrane contains electrolyte, the electrolyte can be supplemented from the matrix even when the electrolyte in a catalyst layer of the oxidizing agent electrode is condensed and an occupying ratio of micropores by electrolyte is decreased. Since adhesion of the matrix with the ion exchange membrane is increased and contact area between them is also increased, transfer of water is made easy, and the amount of water in an air chamber is increased, and condensation of the electrolyte is retarded. Therefore, the life of the cell is increased and cell performance is stabilized. |
