PURPOSE:To segment and convert an image corresponding to the concentration information of an image by providing density information corresponding to the prescribed range of an image density and converting an image having density equivalent to the prescribed range, in the conversion of the image density. CONSTITUTION:An image signal from a CCD 6 is converted through an analog amplifier 7 and an A/D converter 8 to the digital image signal 9 of 8 bits and outputted to a selector 12. Next, by the control of an MPU 10, the writing of table information to a table memory 11 and the segmenting of the image signal by the changing-over of selectors 12 and 13 are executed. At the time of converting the image data, an MPU 10 connects the signal 9, an address signal 20, a data signal 21 and an output signal to an interface part 18 by changing-over signals 15 and 16 and converts the image data displayed by the density of 8 bits. In this case, since the converting information is provided corresponding to the prescribed range of an image density and the image information having density corresponding to the prescribed range in the signal 9 is converted, the image can be segmented and converted corresponding to the corresponding information of the image.
