PURPOSE:To produce age hardening Al alloy sheets with superior productivity by hot rolling an Al-Si-Mg alloy slab under specified conditions and subjecting the resulting sheet to coiling, self-tempering and cutting to a regular size. CONSTITUTION:A slab of an Al alloy such as an Al-Si-Mg alloy is soaked by heating at 500-550 deg.C for 4-10hr and hot rolled at >=350 deg.C finishing temp. The resulting hot rolled Al alloy sheet is rapidly cooled at once to 180-240 deg.C at >=25 deg.C/sec cooling rate, coiled at the temp., tempered by the potentials heat and cut to a regular size. Thus, age hardening Al alloy sheets can be mass-produced with superior productivity without deteriorating the mechanical properties.
