PURPOSE:To easily, quickly and exactly diagnose the wear condition of the wheel bearings of pallets of sintering machine by measuring the top surface positions of the wheels on traveling rails and at notches of the traveling rails and analyzing the difference between both measured values. CONSTITUTION:Iron ore is charged into plural units of the sintering pallets 1... and while the pallets are connected and moved on the traveling rails 3, the ore is heated and sintered. The top surface positions of the wheels 2 of the pallets 1 on the rails 3 are measured by a wheel displacement meter, etc., in the front stage A of the traveling direction in the above-mentioned sintering machine. The top surface positions of the wheels 2 when the wheels released of the restraint on the top surfaces descend in the notches 11 of the traveling rails are measured in the rear stage B of the traveling direction. The displacement of the wheels by the clearance generated in the bearing parts is detected from the difference between both the above-mentioned measured values, by which the wear condition of the bearings of the wheels 2 is detected.
