PURPOSE:To securely remove a residual developer on a developing roller by forming a scraping member as a roller which can rotate independently of the developing roller and applying a voltage which has the opposite polarity from a developer to the developing roller and scraping member. CONSTITUTION:When a latent image on an image carrier 1 is developed with the developer, no developer sticks on a part corresponding to the ground of an image, so part of the developer remains on the developing roller 3 as the residual developer 10. The remaining developer conveyed by the rotation of the developing roller 7 is scraped off the developing roller 7 by the scraping member 5. The developing roller 3 and scraping member 5 is applied with voltages having a potential difference so that the residual developer 10 and scraping member 5 are opposite polarity from each other; and the scraping member 5 is made rotatable independently of the developing roller 3 and the scraping member 5 is rotated while having a relative peripheral speed difference from the developing roller 3. |
