PURPOSE:To obtain a magneto-optical disk which is strong to collision and wear by providing a protective film on the uppermost layer of the films formed on the disk. CONSTITUTION:A UV curing resin 2 having guide grooves for tracking and 30mum thickness, silicon nitride film 3 having 85nm thickness, a magnetic film 4 having 100nm, thickness, a silicon nitride film 5 having 300nm thickness and the protective film 6 having 50mum thickness are provided over the entire surface on a glass substrate 1. The protective film 6, therefore, protects the magnetic film 4 at all times in any operation state of a magnetic head. The thickness of the protective film 6 may be adequately set according to the spacing between the magnetic head and the magneto-optical disk.
