PURPOSE:To rapidly select a desired program by recording an index information pertaining to the kind, etc. of the content in a slave tape together with the content of a master tape. CONSTITUTION:On the transmission side of a printing system for a rental soft cassette, a controller 16 controls a master VTR 15, the index information such as the title name, etc. of a video program is inserted in a program supplied from the master VTR 15 as a title code along with a start code and a stop code by an encoder 17 and a mixer 18. On the reception side, a code detector circuit 20 detects a code signal, decoded by a decoder 21, and transmitted to a controller 22. The controller 22 records the index information in a slave VTR 23 as well as the video program. Accordingly, an information desired to be known can be obtained in a slave tape rapidly.
