PURPOSE:To wind up an infusiblized filament having excellent physical properties with a bobbin in a threading infusiblized furnace, by producing a pitch having 100% mesophase from a petroleum based pitch, melt-spinning the pitch and infusiblizing filament fiber bundles containing an added sizing agent in a specific condition. CONSTITUTION:A pitch having 100% mesophase obtained by heat treatment of petroleum based pitch is melt spun to give filament bundles having tensile strength of 6-9kg/mm<2> and elongation of 1.4-2.2% to which a sizing agent is then added and the bundle is charged into an infusiblizing furnace, where rollers having 30 rows 30 and 3 are provided respectively in upper and lower stages, the roller 30 of the upper stage is driven and the roller 3 of the lower stage is moved by the driving roller and at the same time the rollers are permitted to horizontally freely move and the filament bundle is infusiblized at room temperature - maximum temperature of 300-360 deg.C using an air while applying a tension to the moving filament bundle 2.
