PURPOSE:To enhance the strength and reliability of a rear axle casing by casting a differential gear housing and an axle housing in nodular graphite cast-iron, integrally with each other, and by forming a quench-hardening strengthened structure part in the base of one end section of the axle housing. CONSTITUTION:A differential gear housing 21 and an axle housing 22 are cast in nodular graphite cast iron, integrally with each other, and a bracket 23 is formed in the upper section of the differential gear housing 21. Further, a spring seat 24 is formed in the upper section of the axle housing 22, and a torque lock bracket 25 is formed in the lower section thereof. Further, a quench-hardening strengthened structure part 28 is formed by induction hardening in the base of one end section of the axle housing 22 in which a brake flange 27 is also formed. With this arrangement, it is possible to prevent the base of the end section from being broken due to the concentration of stress exerted to an axle, thereby it is possible to enhance the reliability of the rear axle casing. |
