PURPOSE:To prevent the image in a finder from being difficult to see by fixing a display pattern in the finder even if an actual focus detection area is changed by the change of the field angle due to zooming operation. CONSTITUTION:If a zoom operation key is not operated, a zoom lens is not driven and AF is started again to repeat focus detection, and the focus detection area display pattern displayed in the view finder is changed in accordance with the change of the focus detection area each time when this area is changed. However, a flow to set the display in the finder is by-passed when zooming is started after the focus detection area is displayed once. Consequently, the display in the finder is not changed even if the focus detection area is changed to a spot area of a wide area thereafter. Since the focus detection area display pattern displayed in the finder is fixed and is not changed during zooming, the image in the view finder is prevented from being difficult to see during zooming. |
