<p>A counterbalanced support, for example for supporting a patient or a radiation source in X-ray diagnosis or therapy, comprises a supporting frame movably mounted on a base by means of a parallelogram linkage. This linkage comprises two parallel rods which are pivotally connected to the supporting frame and the base. One of the rods has an arm formed thereon. A constant force is applied to the arm for counterbalancing the weight of the supporting frame and its load. This force is supplied by a pneumatic pulling device via apparatus which are freely movable with respect to the base, so that a substantially constant pulling force is exerted on the arm in a direction which extends at a fixed angle to the vertical.</p> |
