PURPOSE:To obtain the levitation controller of a magnetic levitation vehicle advantageous for any points of a cost, weight, and space, by controlling the exciting current of a levitating magnet according to the output signal of a gap detector and the detecting means of the voltage of both the ends of a magnet coil. CONSTITUTION:A gap detector 7 detects a gap length between a levitating magnet 3 and a ferromagnetic material rail 1. A detecting means 12 detects the voltage across the coil of the levitating magnet 3. The value of this voltage is used by an arithmetic unit 13 to calculate the value of magnet coil current. Then, the output signal of the gap detector 7 and the output signal of the arithmetic unit 13 are processed by a processing unit 9, and the output of the processing unit 9 is fed to a power amplifier 10 for exciting the levitating magnet 3. As a result, an acceleration detector and a current detector are not needed.
