PURPOSE:To mass-produce an optical recording medium by separately preparing an optical recording element assembly layer having no preformat pits and a protective film having a pit pattern, and adhering the film to the layer by pressing. CONSTITUTION:The optical recording element assembly 3 is formed on a substrate 2, and the protective film 4 having a preformat pit pattern 6 on the inside is prepared. The pattern 6 has the ruggedness reverse to those of the preformat pit 5 provided on the optical recording element assembly 3. When the protective film 4 is adhered to the optical element assembly layer 3, the pattern 6 is pressed on the optical recording element assembly layer 3, and the preformat pit 5 is formed. By this constitution, the recording card having a preformatted optical recording medium can be mass-produced.
