PURPOSE:To produce chromium-contg. quartz laser glass by heating a lump synthesized from alkyl silicate, silica and chromium-contg. dopant in an atmosphere of inert gas, reducing gas, etc., at reduced pressure. CONSTITUTION:The lump is synthesized by the sol-gel method using at least alkyl silicate, silica corpuscle and chromium element-contg. dopant as raw material. The lump is heated preferably from >=300 deg.C in an atmosphere of inert gas such as He, Ar, N2, H2 atmosphere or an atmosphere of reducing gas such as CO, H2S at reduced pressure to vitrify. Thereby, the quartz laser glass contg. large amounts of trivalent chromium ion is obtd. The glass above- mentioned is laser glass having high output and efficiency which can directly oscillate the 600-800nm wavelength. |
