PURPOSE:To always and stably obtain a good image without a ghost and the scatter of toner by executing a transfer pre-exposure on a part corresponding to the proper length part of the tip part of a transfer material. CONSTITUTION:The transfer material supplied from a reservoir part such as a cassette, etc., proceeds on a carrier path 4 providing a detecting member 5 which detects the tip of the transfer material and abuts on the toner image on the surface of a photosensitive body. The toner image is received with the action of a transfer charger 6 and it is separated from the photosensitive body by a separation charger 7, then fed to the next fixing part through the carrier path 8. In this case, a device is constituted so that a light source 2 lights only to the proper length part from the tip of the transfer material and latent image is formed by evading surely the said part more than one cycle in a next cycle. A good separation by executing the transfer pre-exposure can be kept and the good image without the ghost and the scatter of toner can be obtained.
