In a cable-operated or like latch, primary and secondary locking levers (30 and 31) are arranged for rotation about a common axis which is spaced from the axis of rotation of an operating lever (49) connected to an electric actuator. The secondary locking lover (31) is moved by a control element which is also connected to the latch release lever, and the two locking levers (30 and 31) have a load transfer means (42) acting to transfer a limited load between them. This load transfer means can be a spring (42) located by the pivot mounting for the two locking levers (30 and 31). This enables the use of a manual key operation to disengage the locking lever by overcoming the spring load transfer means even when the secondary locking lover is maintained in its engaged position by the actuator. <IMAGE> |
