Large sized golf ball has a solid core (I) and a cover (II) for the (I) which is 2.10-2.30mm thick, has a shore D hardness of not less than 65 and has dimples whose total vol. is 330-365 mm3. Pref. (I) is of cis-1,4-butadience rubber and (II) is of ionomer resin contg. an inorganic filler such as TiO2 or ZnO for colouring. The balls have excellent durabillity, impact resilience and flight pattern. (II) may also be of polyurethane, polyamide or polyacetal; ionomer resin has superior resistance to cutting. Pref. compsn. for (I) is 100 pts. cis-1,4-butadiene rubber, 20-60 pts. (meth) acrylic acid salt, 10-30 pts. ZnO and 0.05-5 pts. of a peroxide such as dicumyl peroxide.
