485,179. Mounting posts in sockets. STEELWAY, Ltd., and GOODYEAR, C. W. Nov. 14, 1936, No. 31151. [Class 45] A removable stanchion comprises a post A externally threaded to screw into a fitting B. A lower tube C is screwed into the tube A and forms the part received in the socket D. The fitting B comprises a wall b with a flange b<1> and a projection b<2>. In. assembling the parts, the projection is passed through a notch e<6> in a socket fitting E and the post is turned through a right-angle for the projection to move round the groove e<4> and engage under the part e<5>. When horizontal rails are engaged with the post, the post cannot be turned and removal is prevented. When the stanchion is not in the socket, the latter is closed by a cap similar to the fitting B except that it has no bore to receive the tubes A, C, and has recesses in the surface to facilitate turning.
|
