[Class 55 (ii)] Gas is passed to remove fine particles into a body of washing liquid and wetting agent, e.g. light oil so as continuously to produce a froth which overflows by a pipe 27 into a receptacle 19, whence the liquid is separated and after addition of further wetting agent is recirculated. Gas entering downwardly at 23 passes over the surface of liquid in receptacle 19, up through a spray from a cylindrical drum 16 revolving in contact with liquid in a trough 18 and through a bubble plate 24 with bell caps 26 immersed in a mixture of oil and water to form froth. Spent froth returned by pipe 27 to receptacle 19 overflows at 40 into a compartment 41, whence clean liquid is recirculated by a pump through a pipe 30 to form sprays 29. light oil being added thereto from a drum 42. Baffles 31 protect the froth from the sprays 29, which may add oil alone. Specification 485,181 is referred to. |
