PURPOSE:To obtain a graphite-crystallized high-chromium cast-iron roll stock in which fine graphite is crystallized out in a structure in the as-cast state and which has superior wear resistance and resistance to surface roughness by specifying a composition consisting of C, Ni, Si, Cr, Mn, Mo, and Fe. CONSTITUTION:The high-chromium cast-iron roll stock in which fine graphite of about 350mum grain size is crystallized out in the structure in the as-cast state can be obtained by providing a composition consisting of, by weight, 2.0-3.6% C, 2.0-4.3% Ni, 1.5-2.8% Si, 5.0-10% Cr, 0.5-1.5% Mn, 0.2-2.0% Mo, and the balance essentially Fe. In this roll stock, seizure resistance and cracking resistance are secured and superior wear resistance and resistance to surface roughness are combined owing to the above crystallized graphite. By using this graphite-crystallized high-chromium cast-iron roll stock for the outer layer as a layer for use in rolling, a composite roll for rolling showing excellent rollability can be obtained. |
