PURPOSE:To reduce noises caused by a false gap by forming most of the surface of a magnetic head which is brought into contact with a tape of single crystalline ferrite and using a soft magnetic metallic material and providing a buffer layer of the soft magnetic metallic material adjacent to and in the vicinity of a gap section. CONSTITUTION:In a magnetic head which uses a soft magnetic metallic material 2 in the vicinity of a gap 1 and single crystalline ferrite for the remaining magnetic core 3, most of the surface of the magnetic core 3 which is brought into contact with a tape is formed of the single crystalline ferrite and only in the sections adjacent to and in the vicinity of the gap section 1 the soft magnetic metallic material 2 is used and a buffer layer 4 of the soft magnetic metallic material is provided. Since the metallic material forming the buffer layer 4 at the boundary prevents formation of a deteriorated layer at the boundary and the material itself is not deteriorated by oxidation, etc., and is stable, no false gap is formed at the boundary. Therefore, even this magnetic head uses ferrite which is excellent in wear resistance, noises caused by a false gap can be reduced. |
