A method of improving the accuracy of measuring the extent of a chemical reaction in a reaction system, includes the steps of obtaining, at intervals in time, at least one temperature signal corresponding to the temperature of at least one position in the reaction system and/or in a container in which the reaction system is arranged and calculating the extent of reaction in accordance with the Arrhenius equation, on the basis of the at least one temperature signal, characterised in that the methode further includes the step of setting the extent of reaction in the equation.
