PURPOSE:To assure high corrosion-resistance by effectulally depositing a zinc metal on a rare earth permanent magnet by blending in a ball mill a mixture of rare earth permanent magnet powder and zinc metal particles. CONSTITUTION:The invention relates to a rare earth permanent magnet with use of highly corrosion-resistant rare earth permanent magnet powder wherein zinc metal is mechanically deposited on rare earth magnet powder of a RE-Fe(Co)-B alloy (but, at least one kind among rare earth elements including RE:Y.). As a formation process of a zinc coating, there are blended in a ball mill rare earth magnetic powder and zinc metal particles or sandy powder, and zinc is deposited on the surface of the magnetic powder in a 1:0.001-1:0.1 weight ratio. The RE-Fe-B alloy comprises as the chief ingredient one or more of 5-20at.% rare earth elements composed of Nd and or Pr including Y and further 2-10at.% B, and Fe (Co up to 20at.% may be substituted for Fe.). |
