<p>PURPOSE:To recover soy bean oil from bean-curd refuse in good yield and to obtain a defatted bean-curd refuse which can be used for many purposes by decreasing the water content of bean-curd refuse, extruding the product with a screw extruder and extracting the contained oil from the extrudate with a solvent. CONSTITUTION:Bean-curd refuse is heated to decrease its water content to 15% or below. The refuse of a decreased water content is extruded at 100 deg.C or above with a screw kneader/extruder, and the oil is extracted from the extrudate with a solvent. According to this process, the storage stability and workability in the subsequent steps can be effectively improved by drying the refuse to a water content of 15% or below. Although a decrease in the water content to 15% or below is very effective in improving the efficiently of solvent extraction, no further effect can be attained even when the water content is decreased to 3% or below; therefore it is desirable in this process to use a water content in the range of 3-15%.</p> |
