PURPOSE:To enable sorting independent of the number of paper-discharging trays by providing a controlling means for causing the operation of a printing means to correspond to the operation of a first or second paper-supplying means. CONSTITUTION:Paper-supplying cassettes 1, 2 are so designed to be capable of supplying the same size papers P lengthwise and widthwise, respectively. At the time of sorting, selection data for a sorting mode is taken in, and a paper size is inputted, followed by judging whether the papers are present. When the papers are present, the contents of all manuscripts are read, and are stored into an image memory. A variable (b) representing a set No. and a variable (a) representing a sheet No. are set to 0, and then it is judged whether the value of (b) is even or odd. Initially, the value of (b) is even, so that a first paper-supplying roller 3 is operated, and writing on a photosensitive drum 5 is set to correspond to the paper fed widthwise, thereby printing on the paper and discharging the printed paper. Next, the variable (a) is incremented by 1, and it is judged whether the value of (a) is equal to a predetermined number N. When a = N, the variable (b) is incremented by 1. When the value of (b) is on odd number, a second paper-supplying roller 4 is operated, and writing on the drum 5 is set to correspond to the paper fed lengthwise. |
