PURPOSE:To provide the stone grained artificial stone which is excellent in color tones, strength, heat resistance, etc., by forming a transparent gel-coated surface layer consisting of an unsatd. polyester resin on a base material consisting of colored stone, filler and unsatd. polyester resin. CONSTITUTION:The raw material for forming the base layer is produced by mixing (A) colored stone which is obtd. by coloring ground natural stone with a coloring agent consisting of water glass or linseed oil and pigment, (B) the filler consisting of magnesium hydroxide powder, glass powder or calcium aluminate powder, (C) the unsatd. polyester resin, and (D) a catalyst for curing the resin, etc. This raw material for forming the base layer is then cast into a front mold which is previously sprayed with the gel coat of the unsatd. polyester resin on the surface and is cured. A rear mold is then assembled thereto and the raw material is cured at room temp., by which the stone grained artificial stone consisting of the transparent gel-coated surface layer of the unsatd. polyester resin and the base layer consisting of the above-mentioned compsn. is produced. |
