PURPOSE:To perform constantly stable examination in accordance with the transport speed of printed matter by moving an ND filter to meet a change in the transport speed of printed matter and thereby permitting density variations. CONSTITUTION:A support plate 44 and an ND filter 43, for instance, move upward during normal rotation and move downward during reverse rotation, due to the rotation and drive of a drive motor 47. A command for operation of the drive motor 47 is output from a camera density control circuit 48. This camera density control circuit 48 is connected to a rotary encoder installed for detecting the rotation of a synchronizing device 49 which detects transport speed, and a transport speed signal is loaded into this encoder. Furthermore, the camera density control circuit 48 is connected to a density sensor 50 provided near a photodetector 42. This density sensor 50 detects an integrated density of light, near the photodetector 42, which passes through the ND filter 43. |
