NEW MATERIAL:The TAN-1169 compound of formula (R is CH3 or H) or its salt. USE:A drug. It has inhibiting action against acetylcholine esterase and is useful as a remedy for Alzheimers dementia exhibiting the lowering of the function of central choline neural system as a main symptom. PREPARATION:A microbial strain (e.g. AI-2052 strain) belonging to genus Streptomyces, separated from the soil of Hyogo prefecture, Japan and capable of producing the compound of formula is cultured in a liquid medium at 28 deg.C for 48 days under rotation and agitation to produce and accumulate the compound of formula in the cultured product, which is fractionated with 11 solvent such as ethyl acetate to collect the compound of formula, i.e. TAN-1169A (R=CH3) and TAN-1169B (R=H). |
