Novel fractions comprising oligosaccharides having 6 to 8 saccharide units and molecular weights between 1,000 and 2,000 and a sulfur content of less than 9 weight percent, are obtained by depolymerizing heparin or heparan sulfate and fractionating the digest by size and charge. These fractions inhibit capillary endothelial cell proliferation in vitro and are useful in the in vivo inhibition of angiogenesis. |
