After travelling through a rotary drum furnace and a cooler, the residual heat in the clinker is removed by the addn of water which evaporates to form steam. The steam is mixed with hot carrier air or exhaust gas from the furnace so these gases are partly cooled without causing condensn. and the mixt. is added to furnace exhaust gases before the latter are fed through an electrostatic filter to remove dust. In one pref. process, the steam is mixed only with part of the furnace exhaust gas, followed by adding extra water to form steam employed to cool the mixt. to a suitable temp for the electrofilter. In another pref. method, final cooling of the clinker is achieved in a water bath, followed by drying the clinker in a rotary drum fed with hot exhaust gas which picks up steam while drying the clinker. The system meets the stringent regulations restricting the amt. of dust permitted to enter the environment.
|
