A carburetor (10) for an internal combustion engine is provided. The carburetor float bowl (20) is internally vented through a venting path (60,62) that leads from the carburetor throat (47), via the primer chamber (50), to the airspace (25) above the float bowl. An annular lip (66) is provided on the primer bulb (52) that acts as a check valve and seals off the venting passageway (60) when the primer bulb is depressed, thereby insuring that the primer charge passes into the float bowl and is not lost through the venting passageway. |
