Device for evacuating gases, particularly with an exhaust muffler, for motor vehicles having a chassis of the type including an inlet pipe section (5), an exhaust muffler (8) connected to the said section, a terminal outlet tube (10) rigidly connected to the said exhaust muffler and anchorages (13, 14) for means for fastening to the chassis, respectively located on the said inlet pipe section (5) and terminal outlet tube (10), characterised in that the inlet pipe (5) includes a device allowing its length to be adjusted, consisting of a telescopic fitting of the length of pipe (5) with an inlet sleeve (7) of the exhaust muffler (8) supplemented by a means (15) for immobilising the said length with respect to the said sleeve, following the said adjustment. <IMAGE>
