<p>PURPOSE: To obtain inflated cellulose fiber webs useful for diapers or the like and excellent in fluid dispersibility by using inflated cellulose fibers which are formed from recycled cellulose and whose surfaces are untreated. CONSTITUTION: A crosslinking agent such as formaldehyde, for example, is preferably added to the inflated cellulose fibers which are formed from recycled cellulose and have 1-8 denier fineness, which then are crosslinked by a dry crosslinking method to obtain the inflated cellulose fibers of crosslinked structure. A web having 0.05-0.4 g/cm<3> (preferably 0.07-0.2 g/cm<3> ) density and 100-2,000 g/m<2> basis weight is formed using this crosslinked fibers and chemically surface- treating agents (surfactants or the like existing on the outer surfaces of the fibers) are removed from the web to obtain the objective web improved in at least one of the initial vertical wicking rate, liquid volume absorbed vertically for 30 or 60 minutes and liquid vertically-dispersing rate at 18 cm by >=20% (preferably 40%) compared with conventional one.</p> |
