PURPOSE: To secure a computer system by providing a pseudo random number generation means, a security microcircuit, a trunk bus blocking circuit and a ciphering authentication means and using a ciphering technique. CONSTITUTION: When a memory card 12 is inserted to a personal microcomputer PC 1, a parameter intrinsic to the card is transmitted to a microprocessor MP 13. Then, when an operator keys in a secret carrier code by a keyboard, the carrier code of the card is compared with the keyed-in code. Then, the PC 1 interrogates the security microcircuit 15 and obtains an identification number relating to a secret key. Then, the PC 1 requests the generation 25 of a pseudo random number to the MP 13. The number is transmitted to the circuit 15 and encoded and a cipher is transmitted tram the card to the circuit 15 and decoded. Then, in the circuit 15, equality between the random number and the code is tested. As a result, when a difference is present between both, the MP 13 acts on a trunk bus 2 through the trunk bus blocking circuit 16. |
