PURPOSE:To improve discharge and storage characteristics of a cell by building a positive electrode into the cell after formation and heat treatment in reduction gas atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode after formed is subjected to heat treatment in reduction gas atmosphere. In this case, hydrogen gas, phosphor gas, carbon monoxide, sulfer dioxide, nitrous acid or the like is used as the reduction gas. As a result, it is possible to selectively deactivate the active part of a positive electrode surface as cause for raising open circuit voltage, and a rise in the aforesaid voltage can be restrained. Also, the cell is hardly made to discharge a positive electrode active material related to and supporting actual discharge, and a drop in cell capacity can be restrained. Consequently, the storage and discharge characteristics of the cell can be improved. |
