In a rotary roller machine for pigmenting large leather hides, a pigmenting roller, working in conjunction with a counter roller for advancing the pigmented leather, has an extractor gp. including at least one suction element closely adjacent the pigmenting roller. Downstream of the counter-roller the extractor gp. engages to leather surface opposite the pigmented face and transfers the leather to a conveyor. The suction element has suction apertures in an extractor roller whose axis is parallel to the pigmenting roller, with the suction zone limited by a closure loaded by a counterweight. A flexible cover on the extractor roller has radial detachment fins and is held by position adjusters. A frame holding the essential extractor elements may be advanced towards the pigmenting roller by a pneumatic piston also providing resilient balance. ADVANTAGE - Avoids the heavy work, normally involving two people of removing treated hides without smearing.
