RIM OF A RAILWAY WHEEL In a rim of a railway wheel comprising a flange and a rolling surface of varying contour with a portion of concave surface defined by a paraboloid of revolution with a generating line described by the expression y = axb, where a = 4.8 - 5.4, b = 0.23 - 0.25. The portion of concave surface conjugates with a portion of convex surface defined by a smooth curve in turn conjugating with a portion of conical surface whose generating line has a slope from 1:5 to 1:20, the line of conjugation of the portions of concave and convex surfaces resting in the rolling circle.
